Chocolate Covered Pretzels and a Lavender Jacket

Sometimes we all think that things are supposed to be a certain way, because we haven’t known anything else. Guilty ✋. We forget to question what we do, how we do it, and when we do it. We often stress about it, and don’t think of alternatives.

For example, maybe it’s something like being on time, or being late. Whatever the case may be, it takes up time in our minds and could be used more efficiently.

One day, in New York, I saw this woman walking down the street in a lavender jacket eating chocolate covered pretzels. She seemed so stress free and worry less… I envied her.

ETHICALLY EXPOSED

I wanted to feel what it felt like to walk down the street just thinking about how good my chocolate-covered pretzels tasted. But that situation for me would look a little more like, me running instead of walking, talking on the phone instead of thinking about my snack, and trying to get a “meal” in before my next meeting rather than enjoying them as a nice snack.

I always have a lot of these realization moments in the sense of creating a life I don’t need a vacation from, but sometimes it just hits me in a very subtle way. Most people can’t relax and just enjoy the moment, let alone the food that they are eating.

They have a million other thoughts going through their head. Not to say that the woman didn’t, but she sure seemed very well put together.

It’s important not to compare yourself to others and their life, but it’s okay to be envious and use it as motivation. If you see something, and you want it, whether it’s a product, a situation, a relationship, if you want it bad enough, you will make it happen. If you don’t, you will find every excuse there is, as to why you didn’t achieve it.

It’s important to make the most of everyday and maximize your possibilities, but also enjoy every

moment. However, if you want something and it’s within the next five years or less, and it’s something big, you won’t get there without effort, motivation and hustle. Do what you have to do to get there, enjoy it, and do it.

Who’s the woman in the lavender jacket for you?
